A news from Digital Journalist informs us of the percentage of parents who received maternity leave during the first nine months of last year. Recall that Social Affairs revealed its data, from January to September of this year and in November, "the parents' request for the birth or adoption of a child has decreased by 0.33%" before the request to extend the paternity leave.
From January to September 2006, according to data from the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, 236,981 maternity benefits were managed, of which 3,979 were enjoyed by parents, representing 1.7% of the total.
The province that showed a greater increase in parents who enjoyed the permission granted by the mother was Badajoz with 80%, making Extremadura the autonomous community with a significant rise, 37.5%. While the largest decrease occurred in Ciudad Real with 46.51%, followed by an autonomous community, with 31.08% in the case of Asturias.
The largest number of permits enjoyed by parents are found in Catalonia, Andalusia and Madrid, with 800, 433 and 744 parents respectively.
What conditions can make it the dad who enjoys more maternity leave time? Is it the mother's job that causes some parents to request it? Or is it the desire to share as much time as possible with the baby?
