Does the second child get sicker than the first? It will be that as soon as birth is already going to the "nursery"

In medicine and as far as children are concerned, two and two are not always four, but many times. Those of us with more than one child and more than two, we tend to live with concern the disease of the little brothers because, in part, we are surprised that get sicker than older.

There are parents who do not understand it, who care, who think that their young child is weaker or more fragile. However, the reason is more than obvious: the second child, right after birth, is already going to the "nursery".

The nursery, that place where children catch many diseases

Imagine a relatively closed place where you can gather many children, several hours a day, with their viruses and bacteria. Yes, that place is usually the nursery or nursery school, and it is a place where children are small, have very immature immune systems yet and they are very capable of getting their peers, almost just by looking at each other. Well, for a newborn baby his older brother is, on a small scale, your private nursery, often loaded with viruses.

If the oldest is still small and does not go to daycare or school, better for the little one, because he will surely be healthier. But if he has already started school or goes to daycare, or if he simply spends time with other small children in closed places, or is a child with a lot of contact with other children, the risk for the elderly is increased and, consequently, also The child's risk of getting sick.

Two months and already started with his first antibiotic

Our first child I think he had two or three years when you took antibiotic for the first time. Maybe he was four or five years old when we put a whirlpool (the inhaler) in the chamber and, in general, he enjoyed very good health. Of course, until he was 3 and a half years old, he did not start at school, so until then he did not have many opportunities to be infected and, meanwhile, his immune system was maturing and improving day by day.

Our second son, on the other hand, suffered your first otitis with a couple of months, and the pediatrician already prescribed his first antibiotic, letting go of the phrase that I reproduce today, because it stayed in my memory: "Of course, it is that this one is already going to the nursery"At 6 or 7 months he suffered his first bronchitis and we had to put the aforementioned inhaler, even before his older brother, who at that time had only a little cough and mucus, nothing serious.

The third, poor, also took his ration of antibiotic with less than two months, although in this case it was a urine infection and we can not blame the elderly, but the first year was a bit chaotic in terms of laryngitis and subsequent bronchitis, even worse than with the second.

And the parents, too?

I do not know how parents live it at the level of contagion and disease, but since I am in pediatrics and I have children I spend winters that are scary. Not only do I get sick more than ever, but when I get, It lasts until I am fed up. It will be that I get wild childhood viruses and, so much to surround myself with children, my body already acts like theirs, catching them all.

Calm and patience

What I want to explain, in essence, is that you don't despair if the children who follow the first one get sicker. He was lucky (at least for this, it is a luck) to be the first and to not having a brother who could bring diseases, so you have an excuse to enjoy good health. The following ones arrive with their children at home, so it is normal for them to get sicker. Calm, patience, because they will grow equally, their defenses will increase over time and, little by little, they will have a better state of health.
