One in four deaths from accidents in children can be avoided

The Observatory of Health of children and adolescents Faros has released a report with very disturbing data for those of us who are parents of young children.

Demystifies the factor "bad luck" or "are things that happen" when it comes to accidents in children. According to the report, one in four deaths of children in Spain due to avoidable accidents, which would indicate that not all parents take care of their children as well as they should.

The most frequent accidents or injuries among children that could be avoided are traffic accidents due to misuse of restraint systems, burns, falls, poisoning from the intake of toxic products and choking from the ingestion of objects or small parts.

Other interesting facts that the study has thrown are that boys suffer more accidents than girls, perhaps because they tend to be more restless or less cautious than girls, and that the social level of families also influences.

One in ten babies suffers a serious accident in their first year of life such as choking, suffocation, immersion (remember the tips to avoid accidents in swimming pools), vehicle accidents, burns and falls.

Among children from 1 to 4 years, the most frequent accidents are fractures and injuries associated with a head injury, among children from 5 to 9 years, also upper limb fractures and head injuries.

Really, the data scares, and more to think that most of these ills can be avoided. It is not about restricting the natural freedom to explore of the little ones, but always providing them with an ideal space with the greatest security guarantees to minimize any type of risk.
