A mother warns of the risk of an accident when she slides off a slide with children sitting on our legs

One of the activities that we enjoy a lot when our children are young, is to accompany them to the park or somewhere that has a play area with slides or swings, and have a good time together. Occasionally, when children are still very young, some parents slide down the slide while their children are sitting on their lap.

And although it is certainly a fun time, it could also be dangerous. A mother shares her story and warns other parents about the possible accident that could occur when sliding down a slide with our children sitting on our legs.

Heather Clare is the mother of two young children, and like many of us, she goes to the park with her children for them to play. But on one occasion two years ago, something happened that she did not expect, when Meadow, her youngest daughter, was one year old.

Because her daughter was very young, she thought that the safest way to slide down the slide would be to place her on her lap. He had done it before with his son Matthew, so he didn't think there would be a problem.

However, at the time of going down the slide, Meadow's foot was caught between the slide and Heather's leg, causing it to break. Because it was something she never imagined was possible, decided to prevent other parents about this risk.

Through a post on his Facebook profile, Heather He shared the picture of the moment when that painful accident happened, accompanied by a message explaining what happened.

"When Meadow was 12 months old I slipped off a slide with her on my legs, and her foot was caught between the slide and me. This picture is from the moment his leg was breaking", Heather says in a post that has already been shared more than 105,000 times.

She comments that when they arrived at the ER, the doctor who attended them spoke to them severely about how common these types of accidents were. And since it is not something that is known and there is no kind of warning, He decided that every year he would publish the photograph, to alert other parents.

He also clarifies, upon receiving some criticism, that in the photograph he had already realized what had happened and tried to stop before continuing to slide to free Meadow's foot, so it appears turned, but it was too late.

Many are probably surprised because it is not common to hear about these types of accidents, but a study from a few months ago found that in reality yes it is something that happens, especially in children who are between 12 and 23 months old.

The researchers of that study think that it is due to the weight and size of adults, which makes the thrust greater and that if children slip by themselves, this type of accident would not occur in the same severity. The final recommendation, both from the researchers of that study and from Heather, is do not slip slides with children or babies sitting on the lap, because the risk of accidents increases considerably.
