'Music stimulates and develops emotions for both children and adults.' We interviewed the directors of Formigues Festival

The next Saturday that is May 3 is celebrated in Benicassim (Castellón) a music festival long awaited by many families of the Valencian Community. This is Formigues Sun, and its short walk will not prevent a large influx of public (as happened with the previous edition of Formigues attended by 4000 people).

We have spoken with one of the directors of Formigues: her name is Sofía Muñoz, but she is not alone in this, because the other part of this valuable team is Ana Rico. Sofia is the mother of a small child, and has been self-employed since 2006; At the moment, he combines the direction of the festival with his work as a graphic designer and Community Management.

I think that Formigues deserves to be known, and that is why we bring you this interview hoping it will be brief but also interesting. You will discover that this event is more than music, and (maybe) you wish you could be there
Peques and More.- What is Formigues Festival?

Sofia Muñoz.- Formigues Festival is the first Music Festival for Peques of the Valencian Community. A festival designed and designed to share with the whole family. A quality event that revolves around music but also accommodates the plastic arts, performing arts, games, etc ...

Formigues Sun is the celebration of spring where we can enjoy with our children the live music of The Bandits, Three Men Unplugged, Contaclown animation, dj Vicentemazo

PyM.- Can you briefly tell us the trajectory of this initiative?

YE.- The project was in a drawer on Ana Rico's desk, peeking from time to time. One day Ana proposed to carry it out and ... since then we have not stopped. This happened in February 2013. So we created a Cultural Association, Formigues de Benicàssim and in just over a year of walking we have celebrated the first edition of Formigues (October 2013), in which we have an influx of 4000 people and a lot of help from companies and collaborators, as well as a faithful team of volunteers.

All of them believed in the project and added efforts and enthusiasm. At Christmas we organize Formigues Christmas, filling the Benicàssim theater. On March 1, 2014 we celebrated the 2nd anniversary of our official media, The Espai Menut Agenda, at the Teatro del Raval in Castellón. And we are finalizing the details of Formigues Sun, which will be next May 3 in La Traviesa, Benicàssim and that we organize together with Idear Ideas.

PyM.- Formigues responds to the interests of children? from his parents? Of all?

YE.- Respond to everyone's interests. Music stimulates, awakens, develops emotions and feelings for both children and adults. Sharing those feelings with your children strengthens that special bond that unites us to them. Formigues offers a day full of favorable experiences, we provide the children with the tools to play, paint, dance, be surprised, laugh... and parents an environment to enjoy music with their children, to be together.

PyM.- What differentiates this activity from others with musical content also aimed at children?

YE.- We take great care of the programming, we look for content thinking about the kids but taking into account the adults. We create a cozy environment trying to cover everyone's needs, such as relaxation areas, food services with special menus, etc ...

PyM.- In a few days we will be able to go to the Formigues Sun, and as far as I know you have been only a few months on this musical festival; but surely you plan to continue right?

YE.- That is our intention. We invest a lot of time, effort, desire and enthusiasm in Formigues, the best reward is that our audience leaves with a good taste. Today it is very difficult to find sponsors and if you want to set up a quality event you have to get financial help, but I think and I hope there are many more Formigues!

PyM.- And now tell us why families living in Castellón (and the rest of the Valencian Community), will be interested in attending Formigues on May 3.

YE.- Formigues Sun is the celebration of spring where we can enjoy with our children the live music of The Bandits, Three Men Unplugged, animation by Contaclown, dj Vicentemazo; rock workshops, good atmosphere, La Traviesa, friends, surprises ... In short: Formigues! You sign up?

Music stimulates, awakens, develops emotions and feelings for both children and adults. Sharing those feelings with your children strengthens that special bond that unites us to them.

So you already know, just a week left, but you are on time to buy tickets. You find them in Medicinal Disks (Castellón de la Plana), and l'Àmbit bookstore (Benicassim). They are worth five euros and those under three years old (in addition to the partner children) enter for free.

Thank you Sofia and Ana! I forgot to ask you why you put Formigues at the festival, but the essentials are reflected in the interview. I loved meeting you.
