The Telefónica Foundation publishes the 20 keys to 21st century education

The VII International Education Meeting led by the Telefónica Foundation has had more than 50,000 committed and enthusiastic users who have collaborated for eighteen months in the debate on what education of the 21st century should be like.

In that debate, which has traveled Spain and many countries in Latin America, they have been reviewed from the relationships between education, society and work, to the latest educational trends to undertake the future, through permanent education, emotional education or The role of the family. And all that knowledge has been documented in a work entitled 20 educational keys for 2020. Below is the download document that also allows access to videos and links to consult materials, learn the details of the debates and view the conferences held.

Between the conclusions they have identified are that 21st century society requires individuals creative, entrepreneurs, critics, competent with the digital world, with high social skills and that adapt to diverse work environments. It is also important to extract the intelligence of the group and use talent collectively and there the digital society can provide help. In addition, training has to combine content, pedagogy and technology because technology does not reinvent pedagogy, just expand your possibilities.

And some conclusions more like changes in the education system should be oriented towards competence improvement of students who offer them autonomy, adaptation, ability to process information, etc. and thus have a solid foundation on which to build your future.

What I like least about the conclusions is that it gives a lot of importance, occupying the position number two and three, to the establishment of regional public policies for the sustainable development of education and that institutional leadership is required that strengthen the use of ICT by applying pedagogy. In my opinion they are tremendously general points that are difficult to land and realize.

The effort made by the Fundación Telefónica during the 18 months has allowed a large community to work, share, define and build many techniques and tools to design the future of education. It is everyone's job to continue working and observing the progression of our children's knowledge and abilities in their educational process. And I hope we can arrive in the best conditions in the future. We will remain very attentive to the new challenges facing the Telefónica Foundation in education.
