The Horse Racing of Sanlucar de Barrameda They are one of the most celebrated events in Cádiz. Many races are held in August and we still have time to see one from August 16 to 18. And it is that the beaches next to the mouth of the Guadalquivir are another year the scene of this veteran competition.
The races are declared of International Tourist Interest and every year they gather thousands of neighbors and visitors. The races start at evening fall under the light of one of the most beautiful sunsets and the beauty of the equestrian spectacle joins the environment of the beach with the wet sand that appears at low tide and turns the beach into a natural racecourse.
The event has more than thirty thousand spectators that are arranged along the promenade to contemplate the gallop of the thoroughbreds and with the views of the Doñana National Park on the horizon. The races are distances ranging from 1,000 to 2,000 meters between the vicinity of the old fishing port of Bajo de Guía, where the exit is located, and Las Piletas.
