Bethlehem: 11-year-old Chilean pregnant ... how do you discuss abortion in your country but not about sexual abuse?

I read that the case of Bethlehem (fictitious name) of 11 years, has reopened the debate on abortion in Chile, and I wonder why it could not be used to talk more about sexual abuse of minors, and child protection, which (according to the news coming from all over the world) is increasingly unprotected.

I say this because Bethlehem (who is already 14 weeks old) had been raped by her stepfather for two years! Victim of an abusive adult and the lack of a mother: emotional failure because it was not she who denounced him, but the grandmother (in the attempt to clarify the first accusation of the girl who - under threats - had pointed out to a schoolmate). It seems that the controversy generated by this issue is the candlestick, not because the girl's family has an interest in this abortion - as I read - but because various organizations intend to decriminalize it (at least in some specific situations).

I'm not going to position myself in the desirability of having to decriminalize abortion in certain circumstances, but let's be clear that at this moment it is difficult to know which would be the best solution for the girl. He is too young to give birth and raise, he is too young to abort, who dares to say which situation involves more risks?

Nor is it that with 11 years they should be playing with dolls, because today, many girls do not want to know anything about them with nine, but with that age the healthiest thing is to have time to play with friends, go to the movies, have confidences with classmates, study, receive the affection of your family ... If Belén continues with her pregnancy, she must give birth, feed, raise and educate a baby, With whose help if her mother conceals the man who assaulted her?

Among the people who are interested in decriminalizing therapeutic abortion, and in case of rape, is former country president Michelle Bachelet. But what they say Government and opposition of the reality of clandestine abortions? because these practices greatly increase the risk. These are solutions that are adopted especially when the laws are very restrictive, something that happens in Chile: one of the most conservative countries on the continent, which ranks number 16 in adolescent pregnancy rates in Latin America.

Bethlehem is not the only one

Upon knowing her case, another Chilean girl (13 years old) and her mother have revealed that the girl's father had subjected her to sexual abuse.

Maria had her baby because it was thought that the only culprit was the adult who had raped her, who is still on probation, since she has not yet been tried

One comes to think that Bethlehem has had very bad luck, that her mother chose a couple that would become her aggressor, that no one realized that she was raped since she was 9 years old (did she not run into someone who is surprised that changes in her character did not were they natural?), that the mother (again) came to affirm that sexual relations had been agreed between the two.

Bad luck also have Chilean children who continue to suffer sexual abuse, while the whole country debates whether there should be assumptions to allow voluntary termination of pregnancy.

As you can see, this is not a post to talk about the prevention of unwanted pregnancies, this issue is discussed when sexual abuse does not come into play, this is something else, since sexual intercourse has not been freely maintained (If you can talk about coercion before the age of 15).
