Tatanka publishing house presents its collection at the ABC Museum with the focus on children's works

He ABC Museum has welcomed the presentation of the Tatanka Books publishing house in which in addition to telling us how the publishing house was born, the origin of the name (bison in Indian language) and what books are part of the catalog, we have been introduced to several of its authors and illustrators. The talk was called Epic and fraternal presentation of the new books by Tatanka Books and of course it has been a massive presentation in which in the end, in addition, we have been able to acquire some works from the catalog that the authors have signed to their delighted readers.

The presentation has been led by Tomás Hijo (in the center of the image with his hand raised), illustrator and writer and that together with the editors Miguel Ángel Pacheco and Javier Serrano (to the right and left of Tomás in the image) have presented to Esther Morales (with green jersey), Carlos Blanco and Patricia Gómez as well as Enrique Flores who appears in the following image with Patricia.

Between the books for children presented, and that can be seen on the Tatanka Books page, are Abefeario, a book of ugly letters (?) for children to learn to read, an alphabetical zoo called Aquarium appetizer, which has been illustrated by Patricia Gómez and written by Miguel Ángel Pacheco. This work shows the amount of interesting things that can be learned from fish. It also includes a catalog of the varieties that the little ones can feed and take care of at home.

Can also be found Parcheesiby Enrique Flores or Numerajosby Miguel Ángel Pacheco. Another book with great success is a reduced version of the original Lazarillo de Tormes. This is called Lazarillo de Tormes also and is written by Carlos Blanco Sánchez and illustrated by Tomás Jr. Initially it was a dramatized reading of 50 folios and for children it has been reduced to much less extension so that small readers discover a classic of universal literature. It is a work written in verse and brings together the main episodes and characters of the original while maintaining the adventurous and picaresque spirit of the original

I leave for the end the work of Felix discovers the forest, illustrated by Esther Morales Sánchez. This is the evolution of a work of the University of Fine Arts in which Esther studies. In the book, with some illustrations in which the creation process goes through the outline of the work, the profiled drawing and the final arrangements with photoshop, you can read how Felix, a tribute to Felix Rodriguez de la Fuente, discovers the secrets and the typical animals of the Iberian Peninsula. Esther has a blog called Craving Craving in which you can discover the immense talent of this young artist.

In addition, Tatanka Publishing House has works for the elderly such as Golden Book of Wizards and Witches or The Raven, which illustrates Poe's poem that is also translated into Spanish but with the difficulty of losing the musical melody of the original.

The Tatanka prices They are affordable, between 10 and 15 euros in children's books. They told us that they can be purchased from their website without shipping costs. Most of them are edited in cardboard and have a finish full of details.

In the subsequent questions it was commented that there seem to be children, among those who already know how to read and access youth works, and those who are starting with letters and numbers, who are not offered attractive books to be fond of reading. It was commented that consoles, phones or tablets seem to displace children's interest in books and steal reading time. So taking advantage of the situation I asked if the publisher was thinking of publishing works for tablets. They replied that it seems that publishing in digital is expensive and that in addition the books in which there is interactivity did not convince them.

The presentation of Tatanka Publishing House at the ABC Museum was a success and there was a lot of expectation. In addition, books could be acquired and taking advantage of the presence of the authors, we took a signed copy.
