Diseases lurking in the back to school

With the beginning of the course, the children return to the classrooms and also the diseases lurking in the back to school.

It is normal. It is what produces daily living with other children. Inevitably they begin to increase the cases of children with colds, gut, throat pain and of course, the undesirable lice.

Let's see then what are the most frequent diseases lurking in the back to school and how we can prevent, as far as possible, our children from becoming infected.

Colds

The child has gone to daycare or school just a couple of days and has returned with mucus and cough, in some cases also with fever, usually not very high. He caught a cold.

He common cold or cold It is a viral infection of the upper tract. It is the most common picture in preschoolers. It is a very contagious disease that is transmitted by coughing or sneezing.

The cold is cured alone, without the need for medicines, unless it shows alarm signals such as fever for more than three days, generalized decay, difficulty breathing or chest pain, before which you will have to go to the pediatrician.

All we can do is follow certain general recommendations to relieve cold symptoms such as keeping the child hydrated, doing nasal washes with physiological serum, giving honey before bedtime, trying to get the child to sleep a little, using a humidifier, and in case of fever, an antithermal.

Lice

It is a classic. The school starts and the lice return to the heads of the little ones. The best recommendation is to try to prevent infection.

Some simple measures that can help the lice not visit you this year are: prevent them from sharing brushes, combs, hairstyles, etc., pick up girls' hair, perfume their hair (colonies or essences of lavender, tea tree, geraniums , they work as a repellent), brush them frequently, rinse the hair with vinegar after washing, and especially pass the nit regularly.

In the case that the lice have already colonized the head of your children you can go to home remedies or to chemical or natural products to eliminate them. The offer is very wide but the results are always the desired ones.

Head lice are increasingly resistant and can resist our attempts to eliminate them, so don't despair. Learn about the myths and truths that surround them and follow the advice in this practical guide against lice.

Pharyngitis

The Pharyngitis is inflammation of the pharynx caused by infection of a virus, more frequently, or a bacterium. It can be started after an infectious process such as the flu, cold or tonsillitis in which case it is called pharyngotonsillitis.

During the winter season pharyngitis of viral origin are more frequent, while those of the bacterial type tend to increase in the change of seasons, especially in the spring.

The most frequent are pharyngitis caused by the streptococcus bacteria, which cause rapid throat irritation and very acute pain accompanied by fever.

The tonsils and pharynx become inflamed, with the presence of sores, accompanied by nasal congestion, and occasionally diarrhea and skin rashes.

The pharyngitis of viral origin, is not cured with medicines and the recommendations are similar to those of the treatment of colds, however if it is of bacterial origin antibiotics are administered that must be prescribed by the doctor.

Stomach flu

The Gastroenteritis is the inflammation of the lining of the stomach and intestine, accompanied by soft stools (diarrhea), gut pain, vomiting and fever.

Most often it is caused by the infection of a virus (rotavirus), but it can also be caused by bacteria (such as salmonella) or parasites.

Among the guidelines to follow in the face of acute diarrhea, it is recommended to maintain the usual diet and supplement it with oral rehydration to avoid the loss of fluids.

In addition to the ones we have named, there are also others diseases that usually lurk in the back to school, such as chicken pox, conjunctivitis and otitis, among others of infectious origin.

We hope that with our help you can prevent in your children the most typical diseases from this time of year and have a good start to the course free of snot and lice.
