Depression from the loss of a pregnancy can last several years

Every woman is a world and the piscological impact of losing a baby can affect each one very differently. One in five pregnancies ends in spontaneous abortion and although most women get pregnant again and give birth, having lost a baby is a big disappointment that can leave sequels.

According to researchers from the University of Bristol (United Kingdom) and Rochester (United States) depression for the loss of a pregnancy or at the time of giving birth can last several years, even after having another healthy child.

Although it is normal and expected to suffer from depression or anxiety after the loss of the baby, one tends to think that the fact of becoming pregnant again and having another child manages to heal that wound.

However, what the experts in this study conducted with more than 13,000 women tell us, is that the loss of a baby should be taken into account when assessing the risk of depression in a woman, as the disorders can persist up to three years after giving birth to a healthy baby.

Having an abortion is one of the most painful experiences a woman can go through. Leave an emotional wound that for many is very difficult to overcome. Undoubtedly, the support and understanding of the couple and loved ones are fundamental in this process.

It is a very unpleasant drink that some of us have had the bad luck to pass. As I said before, each woman is a world and lives it differently, depending largely on the circumstances surrounding her.

In my case it was a loss of a few weeks, from my first pregnancy, and although it was a horrible experience, I immediately gained strength to recover, I waited for the recommended time to try again and then I had three beautiful daughters.

We would like to know, in case you had an abortion, how have you lived it? Has it taken you a long time to get over it?
