Better to be born in December than in January?

Just two days ago Mireia told us in an entry that being born at the end of the year could condition the lives of children. His entry reminded me of a debate I had with several coworkers that made me see that sometimes we take things for granted that we later observe are not part of the general opinion.

This is what happened to me a few days ago when I discovered that there are people who prefer that children be born in December to be born in January, when I thought that everyone would prefer that their children were born in January, because of "better being of the elders of the class than of the little ones".

The conversation appeared because an acquaintance (who has already given birth) went out of accounts near January 1, 2011 and that date generated the typical question of "And when do you prefer to be born?", that this year in particular acquired much more meaning when the baby check was in the middle.

On the one hand everyone thought that in the list of "things in favor of being born in December" were 2,500 euros of the mentioned state aid that, logically, fell directly into the list of "things against being born in January". Then making the list of "things against being born in December" I clearly positioned the fact of always being the smallest of the class. Hoping that the rest of the people with whom I shared the debate agreed with this point, I was surprised to see that some thought otherwise. That is why I am asking: Is it better to be born in December than in January?

As they commented, they saw it positive to be born in December because that way children are not "left over", since "those born in January tend to get bored in class" and the little ones, on the other hand, must try harder and therefore they attend more and are workers.

My experience with Jon, my first child, who was born in January, is satisfactory because of a rhythm issue. He left the diaper with 3 years and 7 months, when he was about to go to school. If I had had to start school eleven months before I doubt that I would have arrived controlling the sphincters and we would not have had a good time neither he nor we his parents.

Also, by observation, I have seen that those children who started school with 2 years had more adaptation problems and more cryingThey were physically younger, more unstable when it came to colliding with other children (by accident) and with less developed motor skills than their older classmates.

Obviously, every child is a world and there is always some "little one" who surprises by being very mature and some "older" who does not stand out so much for his age, but the logical tendency, which is marked by age, is that Children born in January will have more tools at the level of communication and more understanding in general and will adapt better to such an important change as is the entrance to the school.

Do you see it as me or do you think it can be positive for children to go in tow?
