Music therapy for hospitalized babies

The benefits of music therapy are at this point indisputable. We have already seen its effectiveness in pregnant women, in premature babies and in the treatment of children with disorders such as hyperactivity. It is also effective for the recovery of babies hospitalized in intensive care.

Music therapy does not heal in itself but it helps the admitted baby reduce the stress caused by staying hospitalized, which speeds up his recovery.

In an investigation conducted with babies from 0 to 6 months hospitalized in the ICU for a critical problem, "music has helped them to stabilize, everything is minimized and the patient's quality improves."

To evaluate these improvements, physiological parameters such as heart rate, respiratory rate and oxygen saturation were measured, in addition to performing a patient welfare test.

A point made by the researchers is that the baby improved markedly at 10 minutes when music therapy was combined with the presence of the parents. Dad and mom are a fundamental pillar for the recovery of small patients and staying with them at all times is one of the essential rights that are included in the Rights of the hospitalized child.

The music therapist is a discipline that is not recognized as a profession, they fight for it, since it helps to improve any type of pathology in any age group.
