The relationship between paracetamol during pregnancy and childhood pulmonary disorders is confirmed

Have we ever talked in our study pages that affirmed the relationship between paracetamol consumption during pregnancy (especially in the first trimester) and childhood asthma.

New research seems to confirm this fact. According to scientists from the University of Murcia, Frequent use of paracetamol during pregnancy is associated with the prevalence of lung disorders in children during the preschool stage, although asthma in the mother could modify this association.

The epidemiological study was carried out for a total of 1,741 children aged between three and five years.

It was determined that, compared to mothers who had never used the drug, there was a significant association between those who had taken it and children suffering from lung problems during the preschool stage, although this conclusion was only true among non-asthmatic mothers. .

This work has been published in the magazine "International archives of allergy and immunology" with the title of "Is the Effect of Prenatal Paracetamol Exposure on Wheezing in Preschool Children Modified by Asthma in the Mother?" ("Is the effect of prenatal paracetamol exposure in pre-school children modified by asthma in the mother?").

Therefore, we must continue taking care of the medication we take while we are pregnant, especially that "self-medication" that seems innocuous but that as we see can have important consequences on the health of our children.
