Why do children get barefoot?

I think that every father and mother at some point in their child's life has thought something similar to the title of the post: “and now, Why do you take off your shoes?

There are different moments in life when children tend to take off their shoes (and even socks). As young children, say from 8-9 months, they are in full phase of exploration of their body, they recently know their feet and want to see them, they want to feel with them and remove those barriers that prevent it (called baby shoes) . It's something like a search for freedom, an "eh, that I was born barefoot ...".

When they are a little older, by 2-3 years this need returns (if one day they left). Walking, running and jumping are actions that no longer have a trick or mystery to them, however they are in them, they do not feel the ground they are walking on and they, who are returning to know their body from a more understandable point of view, giving name to their hands and arms, to their legs and feet, they want to feel with them again and eliminate those barriers that prevent it.

Something like feel free to feel (Worth the redundancy) and connect with the world through what continually contacts him, our feet.

It can also be, and this must be taken into account, that the shoes simply go small or bother you for some reason. If you only do it with a certain pair, this is likely to be. If you do it with everyone, it is probably what I have already commented.

The picture you see is of my son Jon, from one of these November days when a shoe was removed and, of course, a sock and a while before the other one was removed.

Sometimes Jon goes further and once he has finished stripping his feet, he decides to undress completely. I confess, I don't try to avoid it. I imagine it's more of the same, wanting to feel free, rediscover your body now that you know what its parts are called, feel the environment from your skin. Perhaps someone thinks that we are not doing well by letting him undress, but I think, how can I limit such a manifestation of life?

Returning to the feet, when do they stop?

It depends. Some will stop doing it when they stop feeling the need for freedom and connection with the environment. Others will never stop doing it and they will reach adulthood doing it too.
There is nothing wrong with it, it is freedom.
