The hard figures of abortion

Although it is very difficult to account, the Ministry of Health has developed a Statistics on abortion in 2006 which allows us to learn more about the reality of such a hard and controversial issue.

The autonomous communities with the highest abortion rates are Madrid (14.18%) followed by the Balearic Islands (14%), Catalonia (13.57%), Murcia (13.10%), Aragón (11.85%) and Andalusia ( 10.46%).

● Marital status and number of children

67,318 (66.26%) women were single and 24,973 (24.58%) were married, while 49,634 (48.85%) had no children.

● How many times

For 69,974 it was the first time he had an abortion, for 22,325 women it was his second time, for 6,149 the third time, for 1,816 the fourth, for 636 the fifth while 604 women aborted for the sixth time.
