40% of children travel without the necessary safety measures

Now that the holidays have begun for the majority of Spaniards, many campaigns in the press remind us that all the safety measures we take on the road can be few.

We must exercise extreme caution in the car, also with our children, and provide them with all possible resources to prevent them from suffering any damage in the event of an accident with the car.

Although society seems aware of this issue, the Spanish Association of Pediatrics (AEP) has reported that around 40 percent of children Spaniards traveling in the car, they do without using safety devices necessary or misused. Apparently, this would be one of the reasons why more than 1,300 children have died in traffic accidents in the last eight years, a truly alarming figure. It represents 53 percent of child mortality, that is, more than half of the children who lose their lives a year, do so on the road, that is, they could be avoided.

Recall that maximum protection is found in the use of the appropriate seats according to age, weight and size of the child, and the seat belt. If used properly, up to 75 percent of deaths and 90 percent of injuries (most head injuries) could be avoided. I think they are numbers that make people think.
