Mei Tai: traditional Asian method to carry the baby

Inspired by the system that mothers use in China to carry babies while they do their jobs in the field, the Mei Tai, a new baby carrier system.

It is basically a rectangle of fabric with strips at its ends that pass through the mother's shoulders and knot in different ways, depending on the age of the child and where we want to load it.

It offers multiple options, but the key is to learn the technique of placing it correctly so that the baby is comfortable and does not slip when walking.

It allows to take the baby in the front looking inward, ideal position for the newborn or looking outward so that they can browse when they have already grown a little. It can also be placed on the back or side on the hips.

Some mothers say that they have proven that one of its advantages is that it is very cool for the summer and that it helps to distribute the child's weight better, in addition to the fact that the baby is sitting and the position of his legs is more comfortable.

There are different colors and prints, most are reversible and there are even some models with quilted fabrics and others that you can combine to your liking.

If you give yourself some skill you can do it yourself or ask someone to do it to you. Here are some instructions on how to make it.

The price is between 40 and 50 euros, or if you prefer although they are more expensive you can get some very nice oriental designs.
