INTERVIDA collaborates in Cameroon to reduce infant mortality

There are many women who die from various complications during pregnancy or childbirth, as we reported in Babies and more, up to ½ million women and of this figure, no less than 50% occurs in the African continent.

Underdeveloped countries are those who suffer most strongly this situation, as we read in the news of Acceso.com, some deaths could be avoided in the simplest way we can imagine, simply who assists and helps in the delivery of a woman, washing previously hands.

This example can provide us with full awareness of the need to provide a teaching, at least basic, about the hygienic behavior to follow. Of course, sometimes it is not about behavior, since wanting to wash and not being able to lack water is another of the situations that need to be corrected. Many are the objectives set by the United Nations until next year 2015 and collaborations are not very abundant. INTERVIDA places its grain of sand and with the purpose of contributing to one of the objectives set, that of reduce the great maternal and infant mortality of Cameroon, has begun to collaborate with a congregation of Teresian Missionary Carmelites in a project composed of various activities that cover everything related to pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum.

It is estimated that thanks to the project, 30,000 inhabitants of the country can benefit and improve their conditions. Getting pregnant in this country or in most of those that make up the African continent, is a great challenge with various problems for the future mother. Lack of hygiene, malnutrition, lack of water, lack of sanitary means ... a long list that various organizations try to alleviate, or at least minimize.

Some NGOs deserve great respect and admiration for the work they try to perform, in our opinion INTERVIDA is one of them. Sometimes we have heard that the contributions provided to certain NGOs never reach their destination, at least those we know are directed by very responsible people who try to help others and try to provide evidence that the aid has come to fruition. port. Our grain of sand is also necessary for mothers and children in the third world.
