Pesticides in the placenta

According to the researcher of the Department of Radiology and Physical Medicine of the University of Granada, María José López Espinosa, all pregnant women contain a pesticide in your placenta which is associated with two types of malformations in the genitourinary tract of the fetus, cryptorchidism (undescended testicles) and hypospadia (abnormal opening of the urethra).

The researcher also warns of the presence of several organochlorine pollutants or dioxins in pregnant women that have been acquired through food, air or water. Apparently it is difficult to ensure that pesticides are the direct causes of the malformations that we have mentioned, although according to the scientist they are involved in the process of these anomalies. Some factors that are associated with a greater presence of pesticides have turned out to be the mother's age, overweight before pregnancy, excess weight gained during pregnancy, etc. The research carried out by María Jose Lopéz has been focused on the analysis in pregnant women of the presence of these substances that are usually used as pesticides. According to the researcher's conclusions, these polluting substances affect the fetus mainly during the first weeks of pregnancy, since it is much more vulnerable. Another fact that the research provides and that is also overwhelming, is a higher level of these substances in children born with these malformations. The mothers of these children also had a higher level of these pollutants.

Pesticides are found in large quantities and especially in food, perhaps they protect food from pests and diseases but it is very clear that we are not. We personally believe that this information further supports the need for a type of organic farming that safeguards our health and that of our children.

In how many diseases we do not know, pesticides will be involved? Who knows, but surely thanks to new research we will obtain new data that will raise awareness of the need to no longer use this type of products.

For now, these substances that gradually interfere with the functioning of our hormonal system are incorporated into our body, through the air, food or water. We must take care of food and avoid within our possibilities, these substances that can seriously harm the health of our children.
