For our children, we are the best in the world and they think that everything that we propose to parents, we will achieve. We are the almighty parents, but the reality is very different and a question arises, is it convenient to encourage this fantasy or, on the contrary, open your eyes to a very different reality?

At first, it is very positive that the child thinks the best of his parents, who are the best in intelligence, strength, love, etc. Why ?, simple, in this way the child feels more secure and protected, being with the parents is fantastic for him and allows him to have more confidence in himself, with less fear, and with much more autonomy.

Also trying to imitate parents is attractive to a child, this helps you set very high goals and helps you to overcome. We must always remember that we parents are a role model for our children and this is a compelling reason for us to have, or at least try, an exemplary way of behavior. But although this is positive at the beginning, it is not necessary to allow this magnification and idealization to become a fabulation. You have to think about the possibility that a child can say things to his playmates or school, his teachers, etc. that are not at all true about parents. That is why we have to talk to him and explain what reality is like, so that little by little he can set his feet on the ground and distinguish what is fantasy from the harsh reality.

For a child to mature, it must be detached from the idealized image of the parents, for this, there are a number of tips that specialists recommend to follow, as it is, that parents recognize that they do not know everything but that they care about find the answer by searching in books, on the internet ...

Talking with him about how the day went was also very appropriate, explaining how everything went, both good and bad, is a way to be honest with a child and encourage him to communicate with much more confidence with parents. Do not try to overprotect it, do nothing that we know that alone can do, so it will not be in the shadow of the parents, since it is very easy for him to trust his parents thinking that they will solve his problem for his comfort.
