With the objective of promote the birth rate in Spain, which has been decreasing for several years, the State offers families a series of financial aid and child birth deductions.

Aid for childbirth or multiple adoption

This help can be requested by either parent.It is received in a single payment and is calculated taking into account the minimum interprofessional salary of the year of birth and the number of children born or adopted together.

  • If you have two children: the interprofessional minimum wage is multiplied by four
  • If you have three children: the interprofessional minimum wage is multiplied by eight
  • If you have four or more children: the minimum interprofessional minimum wage is multiplied by 12

In cases in which one of the children was affected by a disability equal to or greater than 33%, it will count twice.

The minimum interprofessional salary set for 2018 is 735.90 euros, so, if for example a couple had triplets in this year, the help they will receive will be the calculation of multiplying 735.90 euros by eight: 5,887.2 euros.

This help is compatible with:

  • The benefit for the birth or adoption of a child in the cases of large families, single parents and mothers with disabilities.
  • The special maternity allowance for childbirth, adoption, custody for adoption or multiple foster care.
  • Economic allowances per child or dependent child.
  • The orphan's pension and the pension for family members for grandchildren and siblings
  • Other similar financial aid granted by a local or regional administration.

Birth or adoption assistance

Social Security grants a 1,000 euros aid in a single payment, when families do not exceed income limits and are in any of these three cases:

  • Children born or adopted in a large family or that, for that reason, acquires said condition.

  • Children born or adopted in a single parent family, that is to say, the one constituted by a “only parent” with whom the born or adopted child coexists and is the sole breadwinner of the family.

  • Children born or adopted in families in which the mother has a disability equal to or greater than 65%, provided that the birth occurred in Spanish territory or that the adoption was constituted or recognized by the competent Spanish authority.

This benefit, which is exempt from personal income tax, is compatible with:

  • The delivery or multiple adoption benefit
  • The economic allowances per child or minor in charge
  • The orphan's pension and in favor of grandchildren and brothers who, where appropriate, may correspond
  • Other similar financial aid granted by a Local or Autonomous Administration

Aid for minor child in permanent or foster family foster care for adoption purposes

This economic allocation It is granted for each child under 18or older than that age and affected by a disability to a degree equal to or greater than 65 percent, at the expense of the beneficiary, whatever the legal nature of the affiliation, as well as by the minors in their care under permanent or foster family foster care for adoption purposes.

They are two different situations that will require different requirements:

  • In order to receive the financial allowance for children or children under 18 years of age, it will be necessary not to exceed an income limit.

You help large families

In order to obtain this type of help, it is essential to first possess the title that accredits you as a large family, both of general category (three or four children) and of special category (five or more children).

There is a specific deduction for large families, which can be applied in the Income Statement or receive an advance payment at the rate of 100 euros per month.

Income Tax Deduction

Employed or self-employed working mothers who are registered in the corresponding Social Security or Mutual Security regime, can be deducted in the Income Statement of 1,200 euros per year for each child who is under three years old. The amount can be charged in monthly installments of 100 euros (must be requested through the AET model 140) or deducting the total income tax.
