A school prohibits a 4-year-old boy from going to class for wearing too long hair

His name is Jabez, is 4 years old and last August 17 was his first day of school. Upon arrival, their parents decided to take a picture on a very cool sign that said "Today is my first day of school", located so that the children could keep a memory for a lifetime.

What Jabez did not know, nor his parents, is that this photo would end up meaning much more, and not exactly pleasant, and that is that two days later they were told that he could not go to class if she had such long hair.

Apparently he was breaking the dress rules

The school in question is the Barber hillsin Houston, USA As we read in Chron, the center's address contacted Jabez's mother through a notification to let her know that I had to cut her hair because, apparently, "it violated the center's dress standards."

His parents, on the other hand, decided not to do so, and chose put a black rubber to pick it up. That day they said nothing from school, but considered that the measure was not enough, so that the next day they didn't even let them get out of the car.

The measure seemed so unfair that they have started a campaign to collect signatures on Change.org, asking for support against a measure they consider "sexist", when applied only to boys and not girls, and which is also contrary to desire of Jabez. He likes her long hair, the hair he has since he was bornWell, they have never cut it, so their parents have decided to defend their position.

Native American blood runs through his veins

As his mother explains, they are descendants of the Cocopah Indians and at home they have never differentiated the length of hair by sex, because all children have always been long, in what they consider a "sign of strength."

When pointing him to the school they told him that there would be no problem with his hair, as long as they provided documents to prove that version of the mother.

Now, however, the school has decided to deny the child's assistance while wearing long hair, despite the fact that the mother already made the gesture of putting a rubber band to pick it up.

But what… ?

That's what comes out of my mouth when I read these things: What the hell?

Why can't a child go to school with long hair? Does that mean that a girl can't go with short hair? Can girls with long hair go?

It is that there is nowhere to catch it. Already only for cultural heritage should respect that the child could wear long hair, but that although there was no such data, Why wouldn't a child be able to wear long hair if he likes it?

Hopefully they achieve their goal and Jabez can return to school with his hair in the way that makes him feel better. It would be more.
