Earth Day: involve your children in caring for the planet

Among our missions as parents, there is undoubtedly that of instilling in our children the love and respect for the planet in which we live. Children are no stranger to the changes our planet is undergoing and it is important involve them in their care since they are small. Minimal gestures such as throwing garbage in bins or taking care of a plant helps them begin to be responsible for the environment.

Today is celebrated on World Mother Earth DayThis year also coincides with the signing of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, a historic pact signed by more than 170 countries at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

The importance of trees

In 2016, the theme chosen is trees. Why are trees so important? Because they help to combat climate change, they help us breathe clean air, they help us counteract the loss of species, as well as achieve long-term economic and environmental sustainability and provide food, energy and income.

The "Trees For The Earth" commitment launched this year aims to plant 7.8 million trees in the next five years.

Small gestures for children to take care of the Planet

Here also the example of parents is key for children to be involved in the care of the Planet. With simple advice you can do a lot to start caring for it responsibly. Let's not forget that they are the men and women of tomorrow.

  • Teach them Recycle: they take it as a game but it ends up becoming customary. Sometimes they even scold us when we make a mistake of container.

  • Save water: they help a lot of small actions such as closing the tap while brushing your teeth or lathering your hands, controlling the shower water, etc ...

  • Do not waste electricity: Do not turn on lights when it is not necessary, turn off the TV or computer when we are not using it, remember to turn off the light when you leave a room.

  • Respect plants, trees and animals: teach them to care for and respect all life forms. Show it with small examples such as planting seeds, taking care of the plants you have at home, and of course, instilling affection for animals.
