Solidarity project: sandals that "grow" five sizes in five years

There are times when the simplest invention is able to help thousands or even millions of people. This is the case with this solidarity project that we present to you: sandals that "grow" five sizes in five years. Designed by the inventor Kenton Lee in order to help the poorest children on the planet at least not go barefoot through the streets.

More than 300 million children lack footwear in the world, many by tradition, but many others simply because they cannot afford them. This makes them vulnerable to numerous diseases, infections and the transmission of different types of parasites. It is clear that this initiative will be able to help numerous children.

The project

Shoes That Grow, this is the name of the project, it emerged when its inventor Kenton Lee He was living in Nairobi, Kenya and saw how many children walked barefoot through the streets, then he came up with the idea of designing a shoe, simple to manufacture, cheap and that unlike a conventional shoe, this could fit the growth of the foot of the boy. And so this sandal was designed capable of adapting to the growth of a child's foot for five years.

The sandals are made of leather, compressed rubber and automatic clasps that are what allow the sandal to adjust to different foot sizes, both long and wide. We can find two types, small ranging from the child is about three years to eight years old and large, from eight to 13 years.

We can collaborate with the project of three ways:

  • Buying the sandals ourselves and delivering them to a child, although at the time I write this they are sold out until June.
  • Buying a bag or package that will be delivered to employees in various developing countries such as Aiti or Kenya among others.
  • Collaborating in the distribution of the product or in other ways

    Summarizing

I think that initiatives like this are very necessary and can help save many lives and although I have my doubts, especially in the duration of the product, I hope that many children can benefit from this type of action.
