Oppia is Google's new commitment to education

Oppia It is a new tool that Google has presented for educational purposes and that aims to create interactive activities for students to learn solving problems using the Internet. And its creators think that in addition to learning based on watching videos or reading books that exist in other successful initiatives, which can to consolidate what is learned is to practice and practice.

With Oppia It is intended to get students to work the materials that the teacher puts at their disposal. The challenge is again for the teacher He has to work to generate a work routine for the student to practice using a simple platform, in this case Oppia. So that the teacher can find help in his work, this platform allows to share and build on work done by other teachers. That is, in addition to creating the teacher, you will have to learn to enrich your projects with the work of other teachers around the world, although of course, for that you have to make Oppia a successful reference and have sufficient content.

Again Oppia it puts us back on track that one of the keys to current education is going to be to handle all the available information to make it available to students in the best possible way. And these, in turn, will have to practice with the usual techniques of memorization, understanding and practice although now, and I think that has changed, with a much higher learning rate than years ago

Oppia, as Enrique Dans tells us, refers to the verb learn in Finnish. On the Internet it is under the suffix .org and its materials are published under license Creative Commons BY SA.

Although I believe that there is still a lot to be done in this area of education using resources on the Internet, I also believe that it is a challenge for teachers to analyze the published contents, create their own and all responding to design learning programs that put them in value and become a reference as explained by Carmen Pascual González-Babe. It is also very difficult for parents to accompany their children in the educational process and more using the resources that exist on the Internet.

We will have to be very attentive to the phenomenon of Oppia and its evolution over time. In any case, there will still be many initiatives of interest that join other successful ones, also in Spain such as Unicoos, LasMatematicas.es or the Salman Khan academies.
