Summer crafts: how to make a snowball

The snowballs they should not be called that, because that makes us relate them to winter and often, snowballs, do not carry precisely snow.

Since this week has been the typical August rain of stars, I have decided to do this craft with the help of my son turning a snowball into a star rain ball.

My mother and grandmother of my son, is a kind of snowball fetishist, I think it should have about 100 balls. Each friend / family member who travels, brings a snowball as a souvenir of the country visited, so you can imagine what my son can enjoy as soon as he goes to his grandmother's house.

One day, my son took one of my mother's favorite snowballs and, as a child, threw it to the ground, it was a great experiment for a 10-month-old baby, but a big loss for my mother, the ball in concrete was the worst thing that I had seen in my life, a ball that when spun it emitted a catchy song in German, I do not remember exactly what I sang (or want), the point is that it was my mother's favorite and it had been months since I wanted to water one of these balls.

But since I have not found any that I liked a bit, I decided that it was my son who made him one with the doll that he chose and, of course, it was Dora (it is not precisely the cutest doll either, but I knew that my mother would like the gift).

So, after a long time arguing with my 2-year-old son about which doll to choose (every minute he regretted his decision), we ended up staying with Dora (the size was perfect and his feet flat, now you will understand why).

Material needed to make a homemade snowball (star rain version)

  • glitter or glitter stars
  • glass tin can with its lid
  • figure or figures that will fit in the boat with a flat surface to be able to hook
  • glue
  • distilled water

Step by step how to make a snowball

  1. We make sure that the boat is very clean (to remove the labels you only have to immerse the boat in hot water with a little soap for a while, if there are small remains you can scratch with the help of a scourer.
  2. We glue the base of our doll (s) to the base of the lid and press until the glue is dry.
  3. We put our glitter and / or stars at the base of the boat.
  4. Fill with distilled water (you can also use normal water). Distilled water will cause our stars to fall more slowly. We fill until almost the end of the boat.
  5. We close the boat with the lid. If we have a thermal glue, we can seal it to make sure that the water will not come out.

I leave a video where they make the ball with the figures also homemade. And instead of glitter they use the scraping of a CD.
