They propose to remove the Three Kings Day and shorten the Christmas holidays

For the little ones, Christmas holidays are a magical date, but for most parents they end up being a burden. Children do not have classes but parents do not stop working so they have to turn to third parties, almost always grandparents, to take care of them.

For its part, Christmas celebrations and gifts mean an extra expense that leaves agonizing the family economy, and more taking into account that in many families Santa Claus gives first and then the Magi.

The solution that the child psychologist Jesús Ramírez has found is somewhat drastic. It is a proposal that some parents may accept for practical reasons, but the children would not like it.

Suggest eliminate the Day of Kings, spend the delivery of gifts to December 25 and thus shorten the Christmas holidays , which he considers excessive reaching 18 holidays in some communities.

The idea is to advance one week back to school by passing the beginning of classes on the first business day of January. According to the psychologist, children lose their pace of study and forget what they learned during the first semester, so they propose to take more breaks during the year but for fewer days. (The more breaks I think is not a solution for parents).

Different associations of parents and students support this initiative, but given the firmness with which the tradition of the Magi in Spain is rooted I doubt it can be carried out. In short, I believe that the underlying problem is the short circuit that occurs in family-work conciliation as long as there are no effective measures to solve it. The fault is not of the Magi, much less the children who enjoy this party so much.

You who think about eliminating the Three Kings Day and shortening the Christmas school holidays?
