They are photographed with an empty nest, as a tribute to their children after leaving home to start university

In the era of the Internet and social networks where each important news is documented with photographs, each one more original and fun, these parents wanted to do the same by sharing how they felt the day their children left home To leave for college.

In their day they could not take photos announcing the pregnancy with the echo of their babies, nor celebrate a party to publicize the sex of their future children. In his day there were no social networks, nor any way to share images with the world. But with this original composition, they have made their photography go viral in just a few days.

An empty nest: a new life

Vicky Piper is a mother from Illinois (United States) with two teenage children. His oldest daughter started college last year, and this year it was his son's turn, who, like his sister, He has left the family home to begin his studies Away from their parents.

When Vicky and her husband returned home after leaving their son in college, they realized how much they were going to change their lives from that moment: their children were no longer with them, and the marriage now had to face an "empty house."

So, as a tribute to that moment, they both came up with the idea of photographing themselves holding a small nest in their hands next to a blackboard where they could read "empty since 2018".

The post was shared by Vicky on his Facebook account, and in a matter of days it has been viralized reaching over 11,000 comments and being shared more than 26,000 times.

"20 years ago we did not have parties to reveal the sex of our babies, or photographs in the field holding some booties to announce the pregnancy. Nor do we have photos of our children holding a blackboard that indicated at every moment the months they were celebrating. So to honor the next chapter of our lives, I share this picture "

In an interview with the Today newspaper, the woman affirms that for 20 years her husband and she have dedicated themselves to taking care of their children, but now they begin a new stage that they must also celebrate: it is time to dedicate time, to watch over each other as a couple, and to toast for the important stage that your children begin.

"When we become parents, we celebrate many things at first, but then we forget to celebrate others that are happening. Often, graduations and changes in the lives of older children go unnoticed, and with it also the changes that are produce in the lives of parents. Let's capture and celebrate the moment when our children leave the family home: for them and the beginning stage, and also for dad and mom "

Much to celebrate

Personally, I really liked the message of this couple and the originality of the photographs they have shared on their networks, and that have so much meaning.

I think, indeed, we parents tend to celebrate everything our children do during their first years of life, but little by little those celebrations are spacing until they disappear.

But nevertheless, the departure of our children from the family home is a very important step for them, as is the beginning of the university. Both milestones mark the beginning of youth, a stage in which they will reap the fruits of the seeds planted during childhood, and in which they will face obstacles and challenges that in some cases will condition their lives from then on.

But this change of era is also crucial for parents, who for the first time in many years they face an "empty nest". From that moment it is time to enjoy the couple and dedicate time to oneself, although I imagine that there will also be moments of loneliness and nostalgia, when looking back and checking how quickly time has passed.
