What do you call the mother of your children? What does your partner call you? And your sons?

Before becoming parents it seems that we would have been other people, and in a way it is, also in relation to the way our partner calls us. Typically, before having children, both are called by name or by affectionate motives such as "honey", "love" or whatever. But being parents revolutionizes everything, sometimes also the way to address our partner. We stopped calling ourselves by name or by that affectionate nickname to become "mom" or "mommy" and "dad" or "daddy".

Armando told us about this once in a while until your partner calls you dad or mom, but seeing that Mother's Day is approaching, we would like to return to the subject to know What do you call the mother of your children? What does your partner call you? And your sons? And of course, know how you like to be called.

Does your partner call you "mom" or "dad"?

They are the roles we play inside the house. We are the mother or father of the family, but what happens when your partner ends up calling you "mom" and "dad"? And I'm not just talking about calling you that when your children are in front, but also when you're alone, or on the contrary, in front of friends, family and strangers.

One thing is to tell the children "Ask mom." Here it is normal because the children intervene, you speak to them. You're not going to say "Ask Lola." I mean when your partner tells you mom instead of calling you by name. In plan, "Mom, how beautiful you are!" or "Mommy, what do you feel like having dinner today?"

There are couples who do not mind at all, and others who find it most cheesy. To me deep down I think it would make me feel less your partner call me "mom" or "mommy" instead of calling me by my name. I am not your mother, I am the mother of my daughters!

When your children call you by name

It is not usual, but I have seen it. Without going any further, my husband calls his mother by name. I'm used to it, but when I met him it caught my attention and I thought: with how nice it is to be called "mom", how will this woman feel when she is called by her son's name? The funny thing is that there are 9 children and he only calls her by name. Anyway ... does not seem to create any trauma to either of them, so there it is.

I would not like at all that my daughters would call me "Lola" because for them I am not simply Lola. I'm "mom", "mom" or "ma", abbreviation that lately they use to call me, as if they had to save energy for the amount of times they will say it throughout the day.

Maybe if the couple is usually called by name in front of the child, instead of saying "mom" or "dad", the child also ends up calling mom and dad by name, and this becomes customary. The most common is that it is something temporary. It is fun for the child to call you by name for a while, but then return to normal. Has it happened to you? How you felt?

We would like you to tell us in the comments what your name is at home. What do you call the mother of your children? What does your partner call you? And your sons?
