Do you know how the boys of the Panyee football club got a place to play?

'You cannot say that something is impossible, if you do not strive to achieve it'This is the idea that Panyee football club boys should have put in their heads, when they did not even imagine that they would have their own field.

In 1986, the children of Koh Panyee (a small island in southern Thailand), knew football on television, and the idea of practicing it got into their heads. The obstacle they encountered seemed insurmountable: you will see, as Jeffrey Donenfel tells us from his traveling blog, Panyee does not resemble any of the places he had visited before. It turns out that the fishing village it is built on pillars sunk in the water, although one of its ends is subject to a mountainous elevation. As you can imagine, these types of structures make it difficult to obtain extra space, and what visitors perceive as an extraordinary and beautiful experience, was nothing more than an obstacle to chasing the ball between narrow streets that are always occupied by busy people in their daily chores.

Although the video that heads this post, is just a recreation of the events that happened almost three decades ago, it helps us get an idea of how the determination of the youngest, helped them achieve their goal.

It didn't matter the lack of space, it didn't matter either the distrust of adults, what really moved them to change was the desire to approach their dream

And after much effort, they managed to build a wooden platform (also on pillars), large enough to house two teams that practiced when the boys' obligations ended.

And you know what? these children managed to be champions of Thailand from 2004 to 2010; and while many Thais perhaps wondered where is Koh Panyee ?, they and the whole town enjoyed the honeys of triumph. Now the young players have a new court, in the same place that occupied the old platform.

This is a true story., which we know thanks to an advertising video prepared by the TMB company.
